SOYA BEAN CURD
Soya Bean Curd is known locally in Hokkien/Teochew as Tau Huay. This dessert is made in the following manner: first, you need to extract the milk from the soya bean. Then you add a paste of gypsum powder and water to the soya bean milk. Let the mixture set for about 10 to 15 minutes. Using a flat ladle, scoop out spoonfuls of Soya Bean Curd onto a bowl and serve it with sugar syrup made from brown palm sugar. Tau Huay is usually served hot with syrup and it is a favorite breakfast dessert loved by many Singaporeans.
