MEE GORENG
Mee Goreng (also Mie or Mi) is an Muslim Indian (Mamak) dish of fried noodles . It has similarities to the Indian Nasi Goreng except that noodles are used instead. Hokkien Mee noodles are fried with a paste made of spices, chillies and dried prawns which give it a distinctive colour. The true blue version should have plenty of peas, good quality minced mutton, scrambled eggs, bean sprouts and some leafy vegetables , garlic , onions or shallots , chicken , tomatoes , prawns and acar (pickles) . The dish should have a slightly charred flavour and look, and you should bite into certain crispy bits of noodles that have been slightly burnt. Always served with kalamansi or lime and sambal sauce .
The dish is derived from Chinese Chow Mein and believed to be introduced by Chinese immigrants in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
