INDIAN ROJAK
Traditionally , Rojak is a salad dish made of an assortment of fruits and vegetables ( it means wild mix in Malay) served with a peanut sauce and it comes from Indonesia where is known as Rujak .
The Indian Rojak (also known as Mamak Rojak , Mamak beeing Tamil Muslim) has much more fritters and steamed items served with red onion and slices of cucumber together with a dipping peanut sauce that has an added red flavouring and colour for that tinge of spiciness. The Indian Rojak can be personalised to one’s specific tastebuds as most stall vendors allow their patrons to choose the ingredients that they want – which includes fried dough fritters, bean curds, boiled potatoes, prawn fritters, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts, baked potatoes, steamed fishcakes, seafood fritters,a mix of fried greens , cucumber , red onion and many more. This is a different feature from the Chinese Rojak which is usually fixed and also most of the ingredients are different and the sauce is very different . So make sure you try both .
